Dan Haigh
Co-Founder, CRO
Dan Haigh is a geospatial and location intelligence specialist with more than 25 years’ experience helping organisations turn geographic information, spatial data and GIS technology into better business and government decisions.
As Co-Founder and Director of The Spatial Distillery Co., Dan works with organisations across Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region to solve complex problems using GIS, spatial data, location intelligence, satellite imagery, spatial analytics and GeoAI. His work spans local and state government, telecommunications, resources, environmental management, infrastructure and other data-intensive industries.
Dan’s particular expertise lies in environmental spatial analysis, GIS strategy and the practical application of geospatial technology. He has worked extensively with government and industry to understand places, analyse geographic patterns and translate complex spatial information into useful insights that can support planning, asset management, environmental monitoring, infrastructure investment and better community outcomes.
His interest in spatial analysis began during his Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geographical Science at the University of Portsmouth, where he specialised in the application of GIS to vegetation analysis. Over the course of his career, that foundation has developed into a broad understanding of how geographic data, mapping technology and spatial analytics can be applied to real-world challenges.
Today, Dan is particularly interested in the convergence of GIS, spatial data, remote sensing, artificial intelligence and location intelligence. He is passionate about making sophisticated spatial technology more accessible and useful, helping organisations move beyond simply making maps to using location as a fundamental part of how they understand their business, their assets and the places in which they operate.
Through The Spatial Distillery Co., Dan continues to work closely with clients and technology partners to identify where spatial technology can create practical value, from urban and environmental analysis and local government GIS through to satellite imagery, spatial data solutions and emerging GeoAI applications.
Beyond his professional work, Dan has a strong interest in the outdoors and local heritage. He has authored a number of books exploring and mapping the local history and cultural landscape of the Northern Beaches of Sydney, combining his passion for place, storytelling and spatial understanding.
Dan holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geographical Science from the University of Portsmouth, with a specialisation in GIS applications for vegetation analysis.
